Boat Mishap in Niger State: 29 Dead, Search for Missing Continues

A fresh boat mishap in Niger State claimed the lives of at least 29 people, with two others still missing. The incident occurred in Gausawa, Borgu Local Government Area, when a boat carrying 90 passengers capsized after hitting a tree stump.

Local divers rescued 50 individuals and recovered 29 bodies. The Director General of Niger State Emergency Management Agency confirmed the tragic event and stated that search and rescue operations are ongoing.

This mishap follows a similar incident five weeks prior, emphasizing the need for improved safety measures in water transportation.
