Gombe Governor Yahaya Dissolves State Executive Council

Gombe State Governor Muhammadu Yahaya announced the dissolution of the State Executive Council during an extraordinary session convened to evaluate the administration's performance over the past two and a half years of his second term. Ibrahim Njodi, the Secretary to the State Government, addressed journalists shortly after the meeting, describing it as a detailed review of the government's activities and a postmortem of its work thus far.

The governor's administration reportedly achieved strong progress across key sectors. The decision to dissolve the cabinet was made to create space for political appointments as the state prepares for the 2027 elections.

Current government service members are required to resign by April 10, 2026, to allow for a fair political playing field. Governor Yahaya, who serves as the chairman of the Northern State Governors Forum, expressed appreciation for the outgoing officials' loyalty and contributions to the administration's policies and achievements.
