Zulum Dissolves Borno Executive Council Ahead of Elections

On Monday, Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State announced the immediate dissolution of the Borno State Executive Council. This decision aims to pave the way for cabinet members who wish to contest in the forthcoming general elections.

The announcement was made through a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijani. Governor Zulum expressed his deep appreciation for the outgoing council members, acknowledging their dedication and significant contributions to the development and service of the people of Borno State.

The dissolution is part of efforts to create an enabling environment for political participation as the state approaches the elections scheduled for April 3, 2026. The governor has directed that the affairs of the ministries be handed over to the permanent secretaries until new appointments are made.
