Osun Governor Orders APC Officials to Vacate Local Government Secretariats After Court Ruling

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has directed former APC officials to vacate local government secretariats in the state immediately, citing a court judgment that nullified the local government elections conducted by the APC in November 2022. The Federal High Court in Osogbo had canceled the elections, and the Court of Appeal later affirmed the ruling.

The state government, in line with the court's decision, conducted fresh local government elections on February 22, 2025, with new chairmen and councillors sworn in on February 23, 2025. Governor Adeleke accused former APC officials of forcefully occupying the secretariats and condemned the reported attacks on civil servants.

He emphasized the importance of upholding the rule of law and court decisions, urging calm and promising to restore governance at the grassroots level.
