Local Refiners Lift 28.5M Barrels in Q1 2026 - NUPRC

In the first quarter of 2026, local refiners in Nigeria lifted 28.5 million barrels of crude oil, according to data released by the Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC). This figure represents a supply conversion rate of 36.46% from the 68.7 million barrels offered during the period.

The NUPRC noted that 61.9 million barrels were allocated to domestic refiners, but actual deliveries fell significantly short. In January, producers were mandated to supply 22.6 million barrels, with an offer of 25.3 million barrels, exceeding targets.

However, February saw a drop in allocations to 20.5 million barrels, with actual supply declining to 19.8 million barrels. March recorded a modest improvement with 10.1 million barrels delivered against an allocation of 18.8 million barrels.

The NUPRC attributed the supply gap to price disagreements and ongoing commercial dynamics, reaffirming its commitment to improving crude availability for local refiners as part of the federal government's energy security drive.
