NUPRC Reports 28.5 Million Barrels Supplied to Refineries

The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) announced that a total of 28.5 million barrels of crude oil were supplied to local refineries during the first quarter of 2026. This figure translates to a supply conversion rate of 36.46%.

The report, released on Tuesday, indicates that 61.9 million barrels of crude oil were allocated to domestic refineries during the quarter, with production exceeding expectations at 68.7 million barrels. In January, the commission mandated a supply of 22.6 million barrels, while local refinery production offered 25.3 million barrels, representing an 11.9% increase.

However, in February, 9.2 million barrels were ultimately supplied to local refineries, falling short of the 20.5 million barrels allocated. March saw a modest improvement with 10.1 million barrels supplied against an allocation of 18.8 million barrels.

The commission emphasized its commitment to achieving government energy sufficiency goals and enhancing transparency and efficiency in local refinery supply.
