NDC Denies Kwankwaso's Threat to Leave Amid Tensions

The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) has responded to reports claiming that party leader Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso threatened to leave the party due to disagreements over a power-sharing formula in Kano State. During an interview, the NDC's Director of Publicity acknowledged the internal tensions but denied that Kwankwaso had threatened to exit the party.

The director stated that such rumors are unfounded and attributed them to external political opponents seeking to destabilize the NDC. The controversy arose following a decision to implement a 60-40 power-sharing formula, which has led to grievances among party members.

Hussaini Isah Mairiga, the NDC chairman in Kano State, noted that the modifications to the power-sharing agreement were necessary to align with the original terms. The NDC aims to resolve these internal conflicts transparently and maintain unity as they prepare for upcoming elections.
