NDC Addresses Rumors of Obi and Kwankwaso's Defection

The Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC) responded to widespread rumors concerning the potential defection of prominent political figures Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso from the African Democratic Congress (ADC). Abdulmumin Ohiar Abdulsalam, the NDC's Deputy National Public Secretary, clarified that while there has been speculation, no official confirmation regarding the defection of Obi and Kwankwaso has been made.

Abdulsalam emphasized that the NDC remains open to welcoming politicians dissatisfied with their current parties and encourages such individuals to consider joining the NDC. He described the movement as part of an effort to rescue Nigeria and strengthen opposition alliances ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The NDC is also in discussions with other opposition leaders, including members of the APC, to form a broader alliance for the upcoming polls. However, Abdulsalam noted that no final decision has been reached regarding the potential defection of Obi and Kwankwaso.
