Peter Akp Sworn in as Bayelsa State Deputy Governor

On December 11, 2025, Peter Akp was officially sworn in as the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State. The ceremony took place at the State Executive Council Chamber in Government House, Yenagoa, and was presided over by the Chief Judge of Bayelsa State.

Akp's appointment comes after the passing of former Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who received a full state burial. During the event, Governor Douye Diri paid tribute to Ewhrudjakpo and urged stakeholders to work together during the mourning period.

Diri described Akp as a competent individual with a strong character and faith, emphasizing the need for unity and support for the new Deputy Governor. He expressed confidence that Akp would fulfill the promises made to the people of Bayelsa State and encouraged everyone to work together for the betterment of the state.
