Peter Akp Sworn in as Bayelsa Deputy Governor

Peter Akp was officially sworn in as the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State on December 11, 2025, in a ceremony held at the State Executive Council Chamber in Yenagoa. The oath of office was administered by Hon. Justice Matilda Abrakasa Ayemiey.

Governor Douye Diri, who presided over the event, paid tribute to the late Deputy Governor Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who passed away on December 11, 2025, and emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among state stakeholders during the mourning period. Governor Diri expressed confidence in Akp's capabilities, highlighting his qualifications and character, and urged the House of Assembly to expedite Akp's confirmation.

The ceremony also saw the swearing-in of 18 permanent secretaries, marking a significant administrative development in the state. Governor Diri called for prayers and collective efforts to ensure the well-being of Bayelsa State.
