Okah-Donli Congratulates New Bayelsa Deputy Governor Akp

Dame Juli Okah-Donli congratulated Pastor Peter Akp on his confirmation as the new Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, which was confirmed by the Bayelsa State House of Assembly on February 24, 2026. This appointment followed the death of former Deputy Governor Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, who collapsed in his office on December 11, 2025, and was buried on January 30, 2026.

Pastor Akp, who was ordained in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, previously served as Chief of Staff to Governor Douye Diri. In her message, Okah-Donli described this as a critical moment for divine ordination and urged Akp to embrace his office with humility, dedication, and a strong sense of service.

She expressed confidence in his ability to support Governor Diri in delivering good governance and emphasized the need for unity across political and ethnic divides in Bayelsa. Okah-Donli advised Akp to prioritize transparency and the welfare of the people during his tenure.
