JUST IN: Peter Obi dumps LP, urges Obidients to back ADC in Bye-Elections

Former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi has announced his departure from the party and urged members of the Coalition Political Parties Democracy (COPDEM) to support the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the upcoming bye-elections in 2023. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has scheduled polls across 16 states, covering two senatorial districts, five federal constituencies, and nine state assembly seats on August 16, 2025.

Obi cited the Labour Party's internal leadership crisis as the reason for not fielding a candidate in the elections. He emphasized the importance of voting and urged COPDEM members to support the ADC in their respective states.

The bye-elections are crucial for the future of Nigeria, according to Obi.
