Arik Air Plane Engine Explodes Mid-Air, Emergency Landing Ensures Passenger Safety

Arik Air's Lagos to Port Harcourt flight faced a critical situation when the aircraft's engine malfunctioned mid-air, leading to an emergency landing in Benin City. The Boeing 737-700 aircraft, with registration number 5N-MJF, was operating as flight W3 740.

The pilot diverted the plane to the nearest airport after hearing a loud bang from the left engine. The aircraft landed safely in Benin Airport, and all 80 passengers and crew members disembarked without any injuries.

Adebanji Ola, the airline's Public Relations and Communications Manager, issued an apology for the disruption caused by the incident, emphasizing passenger safety as the top priority for Arik Air.
