Tinubu Appoints Taiwo Oyedele as Finance Minister

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has appointed Mr. Taiwo Oyedele as the new Minister of State for Finance, succeeding Dr.

Dori Anit Uzoka, who has been redeployed to the Ministry of Budget and National Planning. Oyedele's nomination will be formally transmitted to the Senate for screening and confirmation, as stated in a letter addressed to Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Tuesday.

Hailing from Ikare Akoko in Ondo State, Oyedele is a 50-year-old economist with a specialization in public policy. He has over 20 years of professional experience across both public and private sectors.

Oyedele holds a Higher National Diploma in Accountancy from Yaba College of Technology and a Bachelor's degree in Applied Accounting from Oxford Brookes University. He has completed executive education programs at prestigious institutions including the London School of Economics, Yale University, and Harvard Kennedy School.

His previous roles include serving as a fiscal policy partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers and advising governments on tax systems across several African countries. His appointment is seen as a strategic move to enhance ongoing economic reforms, particularly in revenue mobilization and tax compliance.
