Senate Screens Taiwo Oyedele for Minister of State Finance

On Wednesday, the Nigerian Senate began the screening process for Taiwo Oyedele, nominated by President Bola Tinubu to serve as Minister of State for Finance. This screening occurred less than 24 hours after the President's request was forwarded to the Senate.

Oyedele is set to replace Dr. Dori Uzoka. The nomination was highlighted in a letter from Senate President Godswill Akpabio, who urged the Senate to consider Oyedele's confirmation as part of ongoing adjustments within the Federal Executive Council.

Oyedele, who hails from Ikaram Akoko in Ondo State, previously served as the chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reform, leading efforts to reform Nigeria's tax system. He has over 22 years of experience with PricewaterhouseCoopers and has held the position of fiscal policy partner and Africa tax leader.

The Senate's consideration of Oyedele's nomination is part of its constitutional oversight responsibilities.
