Donald Duke Cleared as PRP Presidential Candidate for 2027

The People's Redemption Party (PRP) has officially cleared Donald Duke, the former governor of Cross River State, as its presidential candidate for the 2027 general elections. This decision was announced by Muham Ishaq, the party's national publicity secretary, on Saturday in Abuja.

Duke's clearance followed a thorough review by the party's primary appeal committee, which upheld the election outcomes, including those for governorship, senatorial, and House of Representatives primaries. The PRP is set to field a total of 420 candidates across various electoral positions in the upcoming polls.

Duke's candidacy marks a significant return to his presidential ambitions, having previously run under the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in 2007 and later defected to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) ahead of the 2019 elections. His bid faced challenges, including a protracted legal battle with former minister Jerri Gana, but he has now secured the PRP's presidential ticket.
