Nigerian Resident Doctors Suspend Strike, Set Fresh Deadline for Government

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has suspended their strike for four weeks following a meeting where they agreed to a memorandum of understanding with the Federal Government. The strike was initially over 19 demands, including payment issues, promotions, and the reinstatement of doctors in Lokoja.

The suspension aims to allow time for the government to implement the agreed-upon terms, including addressing salary arrears and reinstating doctors in Lokoja within two to four weeks. This decision comes after concerns about the strain on healthcare facilities due to the absence of over 11,500 resident doctors across the country.
