Sowore Accuses Facebook and DSS of Free Speech Suppression in Nigeria

Human rights activist Omoyele Sowore has accused Facebook and the Department of State Services (DSS) in Nigeria of colluding to suppress free speech. Sowore alleged that Facebook is working with the Nigerian government to stifle digital rights and expression.

He made these claims during a court hearing where Facebook's lawyer, Mofesomo SAN, appeared to defend free speech. Sowore's lawyer objected to the prosecution's implication that Facebook was comfortable with the charges, suggesting the social media giant may oppose its inclusion in the case.

The incident highlights concerns about Facebook's potential complicity in authoritarian actions. Both Facebook and the DSS have not publicly responded to these allegations yet.
