Yoruba Activist Sunday Igboho Returns to Nigeria After Removal from Wanted List

Sunday Igboho, a key figure in the Yoruba nation agitation, has returned to Nigeria after being removed from the wanted list by the government led by Bola Tinubu. He arrived in Ibadan and visited the palace of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, marking his first major public appearance since leaving Nigeria in 2021. Igboho's spokesperson, Olayomi Koiki, confirmed his return, stating that it was a result of divine intervention and royal approval.

Igboho had been residing in Benin Republic after fleeing Nigeria following a security operation at his residence in Ibadan. Despite legal battles, he remained outside Nigeria until his recent return, signaling a significant development in his case. Koiki emphasized that Igboho is no longer being pursued by Nigerian security agencies, attributing the change to interventions by Yoruba traditional rulers and political leaders advocating for his support.
