Nigeria to Host 2026 CAF Awards, Tinubu Approves

President Bola Tinubu has officially approved Nigeria's proposal to host the 2026 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards. This decision was announced in a statement released by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Tuesday during the ongoing Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, Kenya.

The meeting included notable figures such as CAF President Patrick Motsepe, Nigeria's Minister of Foreign Affairs Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu, NFF President Ibrahim Gusau, former NFF President Amaju Pinnick, and CAF Acting General Secretary Samson Adamu. The 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly is scheduled to take place in October of this year, bringing together top football administrators from across the continent.

The CAF Awards ceremony is recognized as Africa's flagship football event, celebrating the continent's top performers in a glamorous atmosphere. The last CAF Awards ceremony occurred in Rabat, Morocco, on November 19, 2025.
