Nigeria Approved to Host 2026 CAF Awards Ceremony

President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu has given approval for Nigeria to host the 2026 Confederation of African Football (CAF) Awards. This announcement was made in a statement issued on Tuesday, following a meeting with the CAF President during the ongoing Africa Forward Summit in Nairobi, Kenya.

The meeting included Nigeria's Minister of Foreign Affairs, the current President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), a former NFF President, and the CAF Secretary General. The 48th CAF Ordinary General Assembly is scheduled to take place in October 2024 and will bring together football administrators and officials from across Africa.

The CAF Awards ceremony is a significant event that celebrates outstanding players, coaches, and teams in African football. The last CAF Awards ceremony was held on November 19, 2025, in Morocco, where several awards were presented, including the African Men's Player of the Year.
