Tinubu Begins Historic State Visit to the UK

President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu arrived at Stansted Airport in the United Kingdom on Tuesday afternoon, marking the beginning of a historic state visit. This visit is significant as it is the first Nigerian state visit to the UK since 1989 and the first time a Nigerian leader will host at Windsor Castle.

The couple was invited by King Charles III and Queen Camilla. During their stay from March 18 to 19, President Tinubu will attend a reception with Nigerian and British business leaders and engage in interfaith dialogue.

He is also scheduled to hold bilateral meetings with Prime Minister Keir Starmer at 10 Downing Street, focusing on expanding cooperation in various sectors. The visit will culminate in the signing of several memoranda of understanding, including a landmark $746 million financing deal for the refurbishment of two major maritime infrastructures in Nigeria.

Key members of President Tinubu's entourage include Senate President Godswill Akpabio and various ministers from his cabinet.
