Tinubu Mourns Chief of Naval Operations Musa Katagum

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu expressed his condolences following the death of Rear Admiral Musa Katagum, the Chief of Naval Operations, who passed away on Thursday after a prolonged illness. A statement released on Friday by Tinubu's special adviser highlighted the significant impact Katagum had on the Nigerian Navy and the military as a whole.

Tinubu described Katagum's passing as a blow to the military community, acknowledging his vast experience and invaluable contributions. Katagum held several strategic roles during his career, including serving as the Director of the Presidential Communication Command Control Centre (PC4) and Chief of Intelligence of the Nigerian Navy.

He was appointed Chief of Naval Operations in November 2025. The president praised Katagum for his courage, leadership, and dedication, particularly in mentoring younger officers.

Katagum was undergoing medical treatment in Egypt at the time of his death, and his burial will follow Islamic rites.
