Tinubu Nominates Abayomi Fashina for Ambassador Role

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has nominated Professor Abayomi Sundai Fashina for an ambassadorial appointment as a non-career ambassador at the Nigerian High Commission. The nomination was formally communicated to the Senate President Godswill Akpabio in a letter, which emphasized the need for the Senate to consider the request without delay, in accordance with the constitutional provisions outlined in Section 121, subsections 2, 3, and 4 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended).

The letter included Fashina's curriculum vitae and expressed hope for expedited consideration by the Senate. Following this, Akpabio referred the nomination to the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs for further legislative review, directing them to carry out the necessary assessment and submit their report to the Senate within one week.

Fashina's nomination is expected to undergo the standard screening process, where lawmakers will evaluate his qualifications and suitability for the role before a final confirmation vote.
