Court Approves Investigation of Minister Tunji-Ojo's WAEC Certificate

The Federal High Court in Abuja, presided over by Justice Binta Nyako, has granted activist Emorioloy Owolemi permission to investigate the West African Examination Council (WAEC) certificate of Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior. The application was filed to verify discrepancies in the minister's academic qualifications.

Owolemi's lead counsel, Philemon Yakubu, argued that the investigation was necessary for transparency and accountability among public officials. However, the court declined a similar request to inquire into the minister's National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate, stating that the application did not meet the legal threshold required to compel the NYSC to release the requested information.

The activist's application included requests for various documents related to the minister's service, including financial records and disciplinary reports. The court's decision reflects ongoing efforts to ensure public officials are held accountable within the bounds of the law.
