Minister Tunji-Ojo Sues Owolemi for Cyberstalking Allegations

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, has initiated legal action against Emorioloy Owolemi, a social crusader, for alleged cyberstalking. The lawsuit, filed at the Federal High Court, includes two counts under the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, amended in 2024.

The allegations state that Owolemi knowingly sent offensive electronic messages via Facebook against Tunji-Ojo, which were deemed grossly offensive, indecent, and threatening. The incidents reportedly occurred on December 23, 2025, within the jurisdiction of the court.

The hearing for the case is scheduled for March 26, 2025. This legal action has sparked criticism from civil society groups, including the Concern Citizen Leadership Integrity Advocacy Initiative, which condemned Tunji-Ojo's decision to pursue legal recourse as an attempt to intimidate dissenting voices rather than engage in constructive criticism.

The controversy surrounding this case is compounded by allegations of certificate forgery against Tunji-Ojo related to the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
