Two Arrested for Murder of UTME Candidate in Lagos

On April 22, 2026, two suspects, Elijah Emmanuel (23) and Toni Ogenata (21), were arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for the murder of 17-year-old Thompson Adam, a candidate for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). The suspects lured Adam, who was a secondary schoolmate, to a location where they killed him.

The police, led by Commissioner Fatai Tijani, disclosed that the suspects disposed of Adam's body in a bag. Further investigations revealed that the suspects were also linked to a previous kidnapping and murder case involving a female victim in November 2025, where they collected a ransom of N300,000 before killing the victim.

The police confirmed that the suspects would be charged in court upon the conclusion of the investigation.
