VP Shettima Represents Tinubu at 2026 AU Summit in Ethiopia

Vice President Kashim Shettima has left Abuja, Nigeria, for Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to attend the 2026 African Union (AU) Summit on behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The summit's theme revolves around ensuring sustainable water availability and safe sanitation systems to achieve the goals of Agenda 2063, with a focus on strengthening commitments across the continent for sustainable water management and enhancing sanitation infrastructure in line with broader development objectives outlined in the AU's Agenda 2063 plan.

Shettima, as the representative, will join African leaders at the 39th Ordinary Session of the AU Assembly of Heads of State and Government and the 30th General Assembly scheduled for February 14-15, 2026. Additionally, he will participate in high-level side events for bilateral engagements with political and business leaders to strengthen Nigeria's diplomatic and economic strategic partnerships across the continent.

Shettima is accompanied by cabinet ministers and senior government officials and is expected to return to Nigeria upon the conclusion of his official engagements in Addis Ababa.
