Wike Bans Phone Use for FCT Land Officials Sparking Outrage

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has banned the use of mobile phones by staff of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) land officials following a viral clash. The ban affects officials below grade level 14 in the Abuja Geographical Information System (AGI) department.

The move came after a video of Wike arguing with a naval officer over a property site in Abuja went viral. The ban has stirred outrage among staff and civil rights advocates who criticize it as authoritarian and regressive.
