Yakubu Gowon University Appoints Prof. Fawehinmi as New Vice Chancellor

Yakubu Gowon University in Abuja has appointed Prof. Hakeem Babatunde Fawehinmi as its new Vice Chancellor, succeeding Prof.

Mathew Adamu. The decision was made during the university's 80th extraordinary council meeting.

Prof. Fawehinmi has a rich academic background and experience, having served in various leadership roles in institutions like the Nigerian British University and the University of Port Harcourt.

The council also extended the tenure of the acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mathew Adamu, until February 10, 2026.
