Ongoing Crisis at FCE Akoka: Justice Delayed, Education Impacted

The crisis at the Federal College of Education (Technical) Akoka, which started on May 27, 2024, remains unresolved as of August 2024. The current Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has requested a review of a report submitted by the College Governing Council.

A special visit panel, chaired by former Bauchi State Governor Moham Abdullahi Abubakar, was inaugurated on July 29, 2025, to examine the issues affecting the institution and recommend solutions. The panel, consisting of ten members, was given a two-week deadline to submit its findings.

Despite the urgency, the Ministry of Education has not shown interest in receiving the report, which raises concerns about accountability and the prolonged instability affecting academic operations at the college. The situation has led to calls for justice, emphasizing that delayed justice is tantamount to denied justice, particularly for those wrongfully implicated in the crisis.
