Justice Tsoho Reassigns EFCC Cases Against Malami

Justice Tsoho, the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, has reassigned two case files from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) against former Attorney General Abubakar Malami to Justice Joyce Abdulmalik. The proceedings are scheduled to commence on February 27.

This reassignment follows the withdrawal of Justice Obiora Egwuatu from the matter on February 12 due to a conflict of interest. The cases involve 16 counts of money laundering against Malami, who is accused of laundering N8,713,923,759.49, with the EFCC alleging that he and his family members, including his son Abubakar Abdulaziz Malami and wife Bashir Asab Malami, were involved in illicit activities linked to properties worth N212 billion.

Additionally, Malami's son is facing separate charges related to terrorism financing and illegal possession of firearms. The EFCC is also seeking the forfeiture of 57 properties connected to the alleged unlawful activities.
