ADC Faction Holds Congresses in Kaduna State Amid Disputes

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) faction in Kaduna State, under the leadership of Elder Patrick Didam Ambut, successfully conducted ward and local government area congresses across 255 wards and 23 local government areas (LGAs) on Thursday. The faction announced that its state congress is scheduled for May 8, 2026.

Reports indicate that the congresses were conducted peacefully and orderly without any issues. Despite recent internal leadership disputes involving Elder Ambut and an opposing faction within the party, party stakeholders continue to affirm Ambut's position as the legitimate state chairman.

He has maintained disciplinary actions against members accused of misconduct. In October 2025, Ambut dismissed reports of suspensions, describing them as attempts to destabilize the party.

Prominent stakeholders, including Senator Musa Bello, have rejected the notion that the congress was not conducted under Ambut's leadership. The ADC is intensifying efforts to strengthen its structure ahead of the 2027 general elections, despite ongoing legal disputes and challenges from notable opposition figures like Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and Mr.
