Kaduna Government Secures Release of 500 Kidnapped Persons Through Peace Dialogue

The Kaduna State Government has successfully secured the release of more than 500 kidnapped individuals through dialogue and peace initiatives, avoiding ransom payments and military confrontations. The state's peace model, developed jointly with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), focuses on addressing insecurity by investing in education, healthcare, and livelihoods to build trust and promote peace.

Governor Uba Sani has pledged to end banditry through non-violent means, including dialogue with armed groups. Notably, the government has shifted from a confrontational approach to tackling banditry, leading to the reopening of markets and schools previously closed due to violence.

The peace model has also facilitated the restoration of farmlands, rural markets, and transport routes, benefiting the community. In a related development, the government has been accused of mismanaging conflicts in Nigeria due to poor leadership.

Additionally, in March 2022, the government was implicated in financing Boko Haram, with repercussions from the UAE. The Kaduna State Government's efforts underscore a commitment to addressing security challenges through peaceful means and community engagement.
