Kaduna State Implements Regulations Against Fake News

The Kaduna State Government is actively supporting regulations aimed at curbing the spread of fake news, as articulated by Ahm Maiyaki during a project event held at the Gusau Institute in Kaduna. The initiative is part of a broader peacebuilding project supported by the UK Foreign Commonwealth Development Office, which seeks to address insecurity in Northern Nigeria.

Maiyaki underscored the critical role of social media as a tool for information dissemination while warning against its misuse to escalate conflicts. He reaffirmed the government's commitment to balancing freedom of expression with the need for responsible regulation of digital platforms.

The state has initiated training for 1,000 forest guards to support security agencies in protecting communities. The event also reviewed the outcomes of an eight-month intervention aimed at enhancing peace and stability in the region.
