Kaduna State Successfully Eliminates Trachoma, a Leading Cause of Blindness

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani recently announced the successful elimination of trachoma, a preventable bacterial eye infection that causes blindness, showcasing leadership and partnership efforts. The state collaborated with the Federal Ministry of Health and Sightsav to distribute drugs, conduct health campaigns, and improve environmental hygiene.

Over 558,000 residents received antibiotics, 683 individuals benefited from eye surgeries, and various community interventions were implemented. Health officials praised the commitment and dedication of all involved in the trachoma elimination campaign in Kaduna State.
