Kalu Advocates for New Anioma State in South East

On Wednesday, Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, renewed his support for the creation of an additional state in the South East, specifically advocating for the Anioma proposal. This proposal combines parts of Anambra, Imo, and Delta states to form a new state for the Igbo-speaking population in Delta State.

Kalu made this known during a courtesy visit from stakeholders of the Anioma State Movement. He highlighted that the creation of a new state cannot be achieved in isolation and requires collaboration among governors and stakeholders across the South East and South South regions.

Kalu stressed the need for a united approach to strengthen the case for state creation and emphasized the importance of patience and empathy in the process. He commended Senator Ned Nwoko for his relentless advocacy for the Anioma cause and outlined criteria for state creation, including geographical, historical, cultural, economic, and political considerations.
