South-East Leaders Push for Creation of ANIM State

On Wednesday, stakeholders from the South-East region of Nigeria convened in Abuja to push for the creation of ANIM State, seeking national backing amid ongoing constitutional amendment processes. The delegation, which included political leaders, traditional rulers, and lawmakers from Imo and Anambra states, met with Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr.

Benjamin Kalu. They reaffirmed regional consensus on the proposal and commended Kalu for facilitating dialogue among stakeholders.

Osita Izunaso, a lawmaker representing Imo West Senatorial District, noted that the movement for ANIM State has garnered broad support, including from local government officials and community groups. Preparatory steps have already been taken, including infrastructure development in Imo State.

Kalu emphasized that the success of the proposal depends on strategic engagement and national consensus, urging stakeholders to remain open to negotiations and adjustments during the legislative process.
