Kano Assembly Denies Impeachment Rumors Against Deputy Governor Amid Political Turmoil

The Kano State House of Assembly has denied reports circulating in the media about plans to impeach Deputy Governor Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo. The Public Relations Officer of the State Assembly, Kamaluddeen Shawai, clarified that there is no motion within the House to remove the Deputy Governor, emphasizing that the reports are false and aimed at creating unnecessary tension in the state.

The Assembly stressed its focus on legislative duties and oversight functions rather than engaging in speculative political maneuvers. Deputy Governor Gwarzo has not publicly commented on the impeachment claims.

The State Government confirmed his active involvement in governance programs and engagements. The recent call for his resignation by Ibrahim Waiya did not follow Governor Abba Yusuf's Progress Congress.

Governor Yusuf and 22 members of the State Assembly, along with eight House of Representatives members and 44 local government chairmen, defected to the ruling APC party on January 26.
