NNPP Responds to Kano Assembly's Impeachment Move

The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) reacted to the Kano State House of Assembly's decision to impeach Deputy Governor Aminu Abdussalam Gwarzo, stating they were not surprised by what they termed a desperate action. In a statement signed by Ladipo Johnson, the party criticized the impeachment process as a political maneuver aimed at creating a pathway for the All Progressives Congress (APC) to gain power, which they failed to achieve in previous elections.

The NNPP accused the assembly of trading conscience for political favors and emphasized that the impeachment notice, presented during a plenary session, was based on allegations of gross misconduct and abuse of office. The party reaffirmed its support for Gwarzo, highlighting that the people of Kano had entrusted the NNPP with a four-year mandate in 2023.

They urged the public to remain calm despite the challenges posed by the assembly's actions, which they viewed as an attempt to undermine democracy.
