Kano CJ Releases Seven Inmates on Medical Grounds

On a recent jail delivery exercise conducted at the Kurmawa and Goron Dutse Custodial Centres, Justice Dije Abdu Aboki, the Chief Judge of Kano State, reviewed the cases of 82 awaiting-trial persons and ordered the immediate release of seven inmates on medical grounds. The Public Relations Officer of the Nigerian Correctional Service, Kano State Command, Musbahu Nassarawa, announced this on Friday.

The Chief Judge emphasized the importance of fair and timely justice, particularly for those who have spent years in custody without formal charges. The Controller of Corrections, Kano State Command, Ahmed Lakpene, encouraged the released inmates to view their freedom as a chance for a new beginning and to remain law-abiding.

He also acknowledged the efforts of the Controller General of Corrections, Sylvester Ndidi Nwakuche, in ensuring humane treatment of inmates. The exercise reflects the Kano State Judiciary's commitment to upholding the rule of law and safeguarding human rights.
