Kano Governor Abba Yusuf Launches N1.3bn Secondary School

On Saturday, Kano State Governor Abba Yusuf laid the foundation stone for a new secondary school in Kaura Goge, Nasarawa Local Government Area, with a budget of N1.3 billion. This initiative is intended to replace the dilapidated Maikwatashi school, which has reportedly suffered from land encroachment and was allegedly sold to individuals.

The governor's decision to build a new school follows complaints from residents about the need for better educational facilities for their children. According to a statement issued by the governor's Chief Press Secretary, Mustapha Muhammad, the ownership of the former Maikwatashi school has been transferred to the Kano State College of Art and Islamic Studies for educational purposes.

The new school is expected to alleviate the hardships faced by students who currently travel long distances to attend schools in the Sabon Gari area. Governor Yusuf urged residents to cooperate with the contractors handling the project to ensure timely completion and quality work.

The school will feature 32 classrooms, 36 toilets, and 4 libraries, among other structures.
