Kano-Maradi Rail Project to Boost Nigeria's Economy

The Federal Government, represented by Engr. Abdullahi Adamu Yakubu, emphasized that the Kano-Maradi rail project will significantly boost the economy.

The rail line, which is 203 km long, is currently 68% complete, while the 296 km Kaduna-Kano line is 63% finished. The Kano station will serve as an international hub with a capacity for 1,000 passengers and will link Kano to Maradi in Niger Republic, as well as connect to Abuja, Kaduna, Jigawa, and Katsina.

This project aims to alleviate the pressure on Nigeria's road network, providing a safer mode of transport and creating job opportunities. It is expected to enhance the lifespan of roads by reducing the load from heavy trucks.

Additionally, the rail line will connect to the Dala dry inland port, facilitating better commercial activities and strengthening business operations in northern Nigeria and across Niger Republic.
