PDP in Kano Unites to Nominate Muhammad Sani Abacha

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kano announced on Monday that the two factions led by Nyesom Wike and Kabiru Tanimu Turaki have come together to endorse Muhammad Sani Abacha as their gubernatorial candidate. This affirmation was made by the party's chairman, Bello Gambo, during a meeting with stakeholders in Kano.

Gambo explained that the decision followed the withdrawal of the previously declared winner of the primary election, Mohammed Biala Talha, after consultations among party members in Kano and Abuja. According to Gambo, the law mandates that a primary election must be held to nominate or replace a candidate following such a withdrawal.

The meeting aimed to officially affirm Abacha as the candidate, with an agreement to share the gubernatorial and deputy candidate positions between the merging factions. Abacha is affiliated with the Nyesom Wike faction, while Yusuf Ado Kibiya, the former party chairman from the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki faction, currently serves as governor and deputy of the PDP in Kano.
