Kano Police Arrest 10 Suspected Car Thieves, Recover 12 Vehicles

The Kano Police Command, led by Commissioner Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, arrested 10 suspected interstate car thieves and recovered 12 vehicles during operations on September 7 and September 12, 2026. The first operation took place in Adamawa State, where five suspects were apprehended based on credible intelligence, leading to the recovery of a white Mercedes-Benz GLK 350.

Following this, a further operation in Kwankwasiyya City Quarters, Tarauni, Kano, resulted in the arrest of five additional suspects who were found with a stolen white Toyota Hilux. The suspects are believed to be part of a syndicate involved in vehicle theft across Kano, Katsina, Bauchi, Gombe, and other neighboring states.

Bakori expressed concern that 11 of the 12 recovered vehicles were unregistered, complicating the tracing of their owners. The Command is enhancing intelligence gathering and collaborating with neighboring police commands to prevent cross-border criminal activities.
