Kano Government Expands Healthcare Ties with Saudi Arabia

The Kano State Government is actively seeking to strengthen its medical partnership with Saudi Arabia after a team of Saudi specialists completed a six-day free urological surgical outreach, treating 52 patients at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital (AKTH). This outreach was organized under the auspices of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre.
At the closing ceremony, Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf noted that this was the fourth medical outreach by the Saudi team in Kano, highlighting that over 2,300 patients had previously benefited from free eye surgeries in a similar initiative in 2023. He also mentioned the case of conjoined twins from Kano who received specialized surgery in Saudi Arabia in 2023.
Governor Yusuf commended the AKTH staff for their efforts and expressed gratitude to the Saudi Ambassador to Nigeria and the Consul General in Kano for their contributions to healthcare cooperation. Dr. Ali Ibn Mahfouz, the leader of the Saudi medical team, reported that all procedures were successful with no complications.
Governor Yusuf reaffirmed his commitment to enhancing healthcare infrastructure and access to specialized services.
