Kano State Government Clears N27bn Gratuity Arrears, Promises More Payments

The Kano State Government has settled N27 billion in gratuity arrears for retirees in the state civil service, with Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf announcing the payment of the fifth tranche totaling N48 billion. The aim is to alleviate the hardship faced by retirees and their families.

The government plans to pay off the remaining amount by the end of the governor's first term in 2027. The Executive Chairman of the Kano State Pension Fund Trustees, Alhaji Habu Muhammad Fagge, praised the governor's efforts in settling the retirees' entitlements.

The move has been well-received by the President of the Nigerian Union of Pensioners, Comrade Godwin Abimisi.
