Kano Doctor Suspended for Alleged Alcohol Misconduct

The Kano State Hospital Management Board has suspended a doctor, whose name has not been disclosed, for allegedly working under the influence of alcohol. This incident occurred at a government-owned hospital in the state and has been classified as unprofessional misconduct.

Following preliminary reviews that indicated misconduct, the board's secretary, Dr. Mansur Mudi Nagoda, approved the issuance of a formal query to the doctor and directed the suspension pending the outcome of a detailed investigation.

Samira Sulaiman, the board's public relations officer, described the alleged misconduct as unacceptable and contrary to the ethical standards expected of medical practitioners. She stressed that healthcare workers have a responsibility to protect patient lives and maintain professional discipline and sound judgment.

Dr. Nagoda reaffirmed the Kano State government's commitment to strengthening accountability in the health sector and noted that such actions could undermine public confidence, assuring the public that necessary measures would be taken in line with civil service rules and medical ethics.
