Kanu Dissolves IPOB's Third Administration; Edoziem Refuses to Step Down

IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu has dissolved the group's third administration, declaring the move constitutionally binding, but former director Chika Edoziem…

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, who leads the Indigenous People of Biafra, has declared the organization's third administration dissolved and characterized this determination as final and binding in law. IPOB's media representatives confirmed that a fourth administration now takes effect, with Mazi Chri Nwaogu serving as its head.

Kanu maintains that his ability to implement such structural changes stems from the organization's code of conduct, which vests him with sole discretionary authority regarding all senior officer placements and terminations throughout the group. Chika Edoziem, previously in charge of the now-dissolved third administration, has contested this declaration.

He issued a statement purporting to suspend various IPOB officials while denying his own removal and asserting that he continues as the legitimate director of state. The organization's leadership responded by characterizing Edoziem's moves as unauthorized and pronouncing his suspension statement without legal standing or effect within IPOB's organizational framework.

Spokespersons for the group further stated that determinations announced by Edoziem possess no enforceable validity within the movement. This controversy unfolds as Kanu remains incarcerated at Sokoto Correctional Centre, where he serves a life term following conviction on terrorism charges.

IPOB stressed that constitutional responsibility for organizational actions vests exclusively in Kanu as supreme leader, irrespective of his current imprisonment. According to the organization, the dissolution takes immediate effect throughout its global operations and membership was instructed to uphold discipline alongside unwavering commitment to the movement's constitutional framework.

The organization distributed comprehensive copies of its code of conduct to substantiate Kanu's position and underscore that control over the directorate of state—including all appointments thereto and removals—belongs exclusively to the supreme leader. Under Nwaogu's leadership, the fourth administration now operates with complete operational capacity, per IPOB's declaration.
