Katsina State Launches 238 Tricycle Ambulances for Healthcare

The Katsina State Government has initiated the deployment of 238 tricycle ambulances to primary healthcare centres throughout the state. This launch, conducted by the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Muhammad Ali Pate, took place on Tuesday in Katsina.

These ambulances represent the first batch of a total of 361 planned for deployment, with one ambulance designated for each of the 361 wards in the state. Additionally, 18 advanced life support ambulances were launched, following the Federal Government's donation of three extra units, increasing the total from 15 to 18.

Prof. Pate stated that health insurance enrolment in Katsina has surged from approximately 350,000 beneficiaries in 2023 to nearly 600,000 in 2026, with over 184,000 new beneficiaries enrolled through the Basic Health Care Provision Fund. He emphasized the importance of commitment to healthcare reform and counterpart financing, urging other states to follow suit.

Pate also praised Katsina's response to a diphtheria outbreak and called for increased advocacy for childhood vaccination by community leaders.
